Gaura adds a light, airy touch to the garden. It forms a clump of narrow, lance-shaped leaves that may vary from dark green to burgundy. It shoots up long, branched, wiry stems, bursting with clusters of pink and white, four-petaled flowers at various points along the stems. It is lovely planted en masse and pairs well with other plants in perennial and cottage gardens. Once established, it tolerates drought. Bees love this plant. Plant these multicolor flowers grouped together in garden beds, or combine them with other annuals and perennials for a beautiful mix of seasonal color. For healthy plants that will bloom all season, water until plants are established. Then simply water as needed. Feed plants with an all purpose fertilizer in spring and fall at the base of the plant.
